Homer

My flight today into Katmai and Lake Clark National Parks unfortunately had to abort about half way across the open ocean due to zero visibility. Super bummed not to have gotten into the parks, but rather glad to not have gone for a swim or slammed into a mountain.

Our ride this morning that only made it halfway. A Cessna 206 for any of you airplane geeks out there. Then again, if you're one of those geeks you probably already knew that;-) They're putting us on the same plane tomorrow morning, fingers crossed!

So with some free time I headed south and hiked down to Diamond Creek Beach which was stunning.

I hiked for a couple miles out and back on this beach, all the while with those snow capped peaks in the background,

The tide was going out while I was there which made for a really beautiful walk.

The lupine along the shore were crazy abundant.

Wild purple geraniums have been another prolific flower in my journeys south of Anchorage including here in Homer.
