Durango to Deer Lodge MT

"Big Blue" will be my home and travel companion for the next five and a half weeks.

I'm a type A gearhead so hopefully that treats me well heading off on a 10,000 mile plus trip.

I'm going to miss my boys, Mac in the foreground and Sunny up on the deck.

A late start on Saturday evening at 6:30 to put in some miles before driving up to Deer Lodge Montana to see my buddy Jeff whom I grew up with in my hometown of Grenada. I was treated to one of those amazing red rock desert sunsets as I was coming into Moab.

I pulled off onto a side road near the top of Soldier Summit outside of Provo, UT at midnight. I awoke to quite a beautiful little spot even though I was only a few hundred yards off the highway.

From there it was on to Deer Lodge where I was yet again treated to another great sunest, this time over the mountains of northern Montana.

I got to have a couple beers and a burger with my buddy Jeff in Deer Lodge, MT while we swapped some great childhood stories and memories. Jeff and I met in 4th grade and got reconnected at our 40th (yikes!) high school reunion last September. We hadn't seen each other in 40 years and now as luck would have it we've seen each other three times in just nine months, ain't life crazy...
